24 or 27 inch monitor for BF3?

Postby Pest » Wed Sep 10, 2014 7:25 am

Am going to get a new monitor and it’s come down to just one question. Size. 24 or 27 inch namely. Am tempted with the larger one but am worried it won’t be as crisp due to the larger ‘real estate’. I can’t afford a larger resolution and have to go with 1080 at the moment. I sit about 30 inches away from the monitor, not stuck up close to it, by the way. Any of you guys got any opinions on the pro’s and cons of either?

These are the two I’m particularly looking at.

Agreed, I personally have two 27" 2560 x 1440 monitors which are amazing but 1080p at this size looks bad for a monitor. You are going to wan't to stick at 24" or under with 1080p or go to 1440p with a 27" monitor.

I'm not sure how important it is to you, but the bigger the screen the more your eyes have to pan or tilt your head for you to see the corners of the screen and less likely you will be able to pick up movement in your peripheral vision. Pro gamers generally go for a 22".

Guys, thank you. The clarity thing has really been bothering me and you all just confirmed it. I can plump for the 24" one and stop reading sooo many reviews. My head's been spinning!
And your mention on the peripheral vision problem is spot on too Nirdell, I had visions of getting horizontal whiplash trying to play with Frank hiding in the hills..!
Thanks again.

Yes but will the day you grow up ever actually come? As far as myself someday growing up I personally hope the answer is NO. :)

My computer is used for more than just gaming. My gf uses it for work (lots of document and worksheet creation), and im on youtube constantly, so i opted for a 27". The 3" extra isnt that much of a difference gaming, but gives you much more flexibility if you use your computer for other tasks. If the ROG Swift starts getting better reviews, itll be my next monitor.

Mate, you don't want to know how old I am!
Nick, that rocks and the price is jut daft. I just really fancy trying out this new fangled VA panel. I can always send it back if it's crap.
Coma, my use is total batchelor-stylee. Gaming and, er, nekkid ladies! :D

That's the same monitor I was looking at a while back, but was turned off by the thought of "bigger is better" but realistically, if gaming is the main use you'll be getting out of your computer, is a 30'' monitor really necessary? also, from watching that video on it, the ability to add your own cross-hair overlay blew my mind.

What on earth did i do to earn the title almighty? I hope for everyones sake its tounge in cheek, for if not, i fear we have entered an alternate dimension in which retardation is revered as intellectual superiority, a place where up is back and down is then, a place.....where no one can be trusted......no one....
