Best/Worst GPU Brands?

Best/Worst GPU Brands?

Postby SpaceMunkii » Sun Sep 28, 2014 11:02 am

As the title says, any experienced opinions? I'm considering buying a new one within the next month or two, my gtx650 is getting old :(

I have read that many people think that Powercolour or XFX are the worst, but i've only owned a EVGA and BFG, and i want to know what brands to consider or avoid.

ASUS, Gigabyte, Inno3D, MSi, Palit, PNY, Zotac, Powercolour, XFX, EVGA, Gainward, Galaxy .....

EVGA and ASUS are the only two card brands that I have purchased in the last 5 years or so, I haven't had either one of them fail on me yet.

I don't go by brands. Read reviews online by people the review the cards, and read newegg reviews.

Not all brands have all good cards. That one I would try to avoid.

I would try to get an Nvidia Geforce 970, and I know Gainward is a really good brand back in 2000-2005. I never had one of there new cards, but they look really nice.

Yeah i heard Gainward were decent, i normally go with EVGA, but i'm considering ASUS or MSi also, i haven't read much about the other cheaper brands, i figured if they are cheaper, there's a reason for that and they are obviously using cheaper/mediocre parts whereas EVGA etc use expensive/better parts, hence the difference in prices(?).

My 4gb PNY Enthusiast edition 770 is outstanding; only decent card I've ever had.

Interesting comments, a 970 does wet my appetite, maybe even a Ti version to reduce power would be even better :p

I'm most likely going to purchase a 970 myself, this seems to be the one to buy MSI GTX 970 GAMING 4G GeForce GTX 970 4GB. Sadly they are out of stock pretty much everywhere but I was waiting for the initial batch of reviews to come in anyways.

In all honesty, I can't wait to get my hands on a 980. Might trade my 770 towards one.

if you were to go the AMD route, i would suggest sapphire or xfx; xfx deals primarily with AMD GPUs and i have a 280x in my other rig that overclocked and performs flawlessly. stay away from the asus direct cu 290s, though. been hearing that the coolers weren't designed for the AMD heat output.

i'm running a EVGA 780ti classy in my main comp and it's absolutely amazing.
